Market ResearchHundreds of Conservancy members recently participated in a survey of their ecotravel preferences and demographics. The great response and excellent information generated will be used in the design of our conservation partners' ecotourism programs. The experience also demonstrated that there is an enormous interest among Conservancy members in visiting the sites the Conservancy is working to conserve, with the ecotourism operations we are helping set up. Following on the heels of the survey, two focus groups of member ecotravellers selected from survey participants, were held in Southern Belize and Bocas Del Toro, Panama. The members participated in experimental trips to the Maya Mountains Marine Corridor, Belize the Talamanca Biological Corridor, Costa Rica and the Bastimentos Marine reserve on the Caribbean coast of Panama. Apart from providing our members with a great ecotourism experience which generated much needed income for our partners' conservation work at those sites, our partners' fledgling ecotourism operations received a thorough evaluation of all aspects of the experience that helps improve the quality of their operation. |
