Nature has many faces in Asia Pacific.

Asia Pacific is home to over 4.3 billion people (60 percent of the global population), nurtures some of the oldest cultures on the planet, and offers a wealth of diverse landscapes and seascapes—from the heights of the Himalayas to the depths of the Pacific Ocean. However, a warming climate, a growing population and our need for natural resources are threatening nature as never before.

Where We Work

As the fastest growing region in the world, Asia Pacific includes more than half of the world’s 7 billion people, seven of its 10 largest cities and five of its largest economies. As the region’s economies expand, increased urbanization, consumption and a rising demand for food, water, housing and energy are placing enormous pressure on the region’s unique natural assets.

Women Guardians of the Mangroves (2:05) TNC is supporting the women of Mangoro Market Meri in Papua New Guinea by helping them develop and trial their business and conservation ideas, and then link them to larger-scale economic benefits for conservation.
TNC in Mongolia (5:31) Mongolia's grasslands cover 80% of the country—an area almost three times the size of California. This precious resource supports an array of wildlife, from great herds of gazelle to endangered argali sheep, saiga antelopes and snow leopards. And Mongolia’s grasslands also support its people.
Restoring Hong Kong's Lost Oyster Reefs (3:18) Oysters and other shellfish provide a boon of benefits, acting as natural filter feeders that improve local water quality and stabilize shorelines. With support from the Lau Fau Shan and Yung Shue O aquaculture communities, TNC Hong Kong has deployed pilot oyster reefs in Lau Fau Shan and Tolo Harbour using discarded shells.
Pacific Island Tuna (2:02) is a cooperative of Pacific Island Nations based in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, at the center of one of the world's foremost sustainable fisheries.
Longwu Water Fund (7:51) The Longwu Reservoir is located northeast of Huanghu town, Yuhang district, Zhejiang Province and supplies drinking water to two villages of approximately 3,000 people. Although this water fund is small, it represents the first of its kind as an innovative collective action case in the China context.
