Building on decades of experience helping shape legislation, strong relationships with federal and state leaders, and an ability to collaborate with impacted communities, we are enabling successful climate policy that contributes to achieving economy-wide net zero emissions and invests in climate adaptation and resiliency.

Through our continued efforts with partners to restore critical habitat and improve river system conditions and resiliency—combined with our resolute commitment to Indigenous-led conservation—we are working to save Idaho’s salmon and steelhead from extinction and return them to healthy and harvestable populations.

Fire is essential to the health of forests but a century of fire suppression, exclusion practices and poor harvesting methods has thrown forest ecosystems out of balance. After decades of building relationships with partners and conducting controlled burns on the lands we steward, we are disrupting the paradigm of fire-suppression in the West and dramatically increasing the scale of forest restoration to keep people and nature healthy.

We are conserving lands and freshwater identified as climate resilient—natural strongholds that are projected to retain high quality habitat and critical wildlife migration corridors—to protect critical habitat for wildlife and landscapes that sustain the vitality of communities and economies now and into the future.

By reducing barriers and advancing policies in support of regenerative agriculture practices that improve soil health, we are playing a significant role in dramatically scaling up adoption and influencing widespread change in the way agriculture is practiced in Idaho.

In a collaborative endeavor, spanning seven states, TNC is accelerating a multi-faceted approach of restoration and adaptive and sustainable land management policies to ensure this crucial landscape will continue to support wildlife and sustain our ranching and agriculture economies.
