Brief Biography
Doria Gordon has been the Senior Ecologist for the Florida Chapter since 1990 and is a Courtesy Professor of Botany at the University of Florida. She is also a Research Affiliate at Archbold Biological Station. Her research focus includes restoration of longleaf pine ecosystems, ecological effects and control of non-indigenous plant species, and rare species biology, demography, and management. Additionally, she leads the Florida Chapter's efforts on invasive non-native species, and has represented the Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council in dialogue with the Florida nursery industry since 1997. She is involved in conservation planning in Florida and served on TNC's Measures and Audit Team during 2003. She also teaches workshops on ecological management and monitoring for the Florida Chapter's Natural Areas Training Academy. Prior to attending graduate school at the University of California, Davis, Doria worked at The Ecosystems Center of the Marine Biological Laboratory (MA) for two years.
