November 16, 2005: Nature Conservancy Joins Scientists to Launch Climate Change Research Station on Palmyra Atoll
A team of the world’s leading scientists have joined forces with The Nature Conservancy to launch a new research station on the tiny and secluded Palmyra Atoll where they will study climate change, disappearing coral reefs, invasive species and other global environmental threats.

January 18, 2001: Waters Surrounding Palmyra Receive Federal Protection
In an action that took place late Thursday night, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service approved the establishment of a National Wildlife Refuge for the waters off of Palmyra Atoll.
