Anchorage Mayor Proclaims "Conservation Week" in October

Helps Celebrate the Conservancy's 20th Anniversary in Alaska

The Municipality of Anchorage recognized Alaska is a place of extraordinary wildlife resources, beautiful landscapes, and abundant waters in their proclamation of "Conservation Week" during the Conservancy's 20th anniversary celebration.

Chief of Staff David Ramseur presented the proclamation to David Wight, Chair of the Alaska chapter's Board of Trustees saying "on behalf of Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich, I do hereby proclaim October 5-11, 2008 as "Conservation Week."

The proclamation also recognized the Conservancy as a leading international, nonprofit organization that has protected tens of thousands of acres of important habitats by working with partners, both public and private, to ensure the balance between economic needs and ecological values.
