20th Anniversary Tidbits

20th anniversary event

The Nature Conservancy staff and Board joined members, partners and new friends to celebrate 20 years of conservation success in Alaska. The Municipality of Anchorage declared October 5 through 11 "Conservation Week" at the event in recognition of Alaskans stewardship of our natural resources and great wild places.

Imamsuat, a multi-generational group of Sugpiaq (Alutiiq) people from the Alaska and Lower Kenai Peninsulas, Kodiak & Afognak Islands, and Prince William Sound, joined the Conservancy's celebration. Members of the group are also from the Inupiaq culture of the Bering Sea. The group shared their Sugpiat culture through dance and song.
