Visitors to Moody Forest Natural Area now have marked trails to follow while enjoying the diversity of the native longleaf pine forest, thanks to the work of Carol Schneier.

Enduring soaring temperatures and biting insects, Carol spent summer of 2005 living at Moody Forest where she designed and installed two interpretative trails and compiled a species list.

"Carol's dedication to conservation and her enthusiasm are an inspiration to all of our staff and our partners," said Alison McGee, southeast Georgia conservation manager.

Retired from IBM, Carol is a Legacy Club member and a long-time volunteer, even devoting her weekends and vacations to working at Nature Conservancy preserves in Georgia.

"Attending annual meetings of The Nature Conservancy in Long Island as a child, I developed a deep conservation ethic, and now I look forward to opportunities to help protect natural areas," said Carol.
