Lolly Lederberg
Nature Conservancy volunteer Lolly Lederberg's passion for nature extends far beyond Georgia's borders.

Lolly practiced medicine in her native New York and in the Virgin Islands for 40 years before retiring to Atlanta in 1990. She soon discovered her second “career” – an observer of and advocate for birds.

Not only has she compiled a life list of 660 North American birds, but as past president of the Atlanta Audubon Society, she worked to protect migratory bird habitat by promoting awareness of shade grown coffee.

Combining her fervor for nature and travel, Lolly recently visited The Nature Conservancy's Magens Bay Preserve on St. Thomas. The Virgin Islands, Costa Rica, Belize, Alaska -- these are just of few of the exotic locales that Lolly has explored, and The Nature Conservancy is working to protect around the globe.

“I believe we have to be vigilant about saving our natural areas,” said Lolly. “I think The Nature Conservancy is doing just that.”
