The Nature Conservancy's Blue River Project Office is offering an exciting opportunity to Indiana students in the 3rd grade through the 12th - designing the logo for their annual Hellbender Hustle in 2009!
The Hellbender Hustle is an annual 5k run/walk held at O'Bannon Woods State Park in Corydon, Indiana. The event raises awareness of The Nature Conservancy's work in the Blue River Area where the race's namesake - the rare Hellbender salamander - is found.

The sixth annual Hellbender Hustle will take place Saturday, April 18, 2009. This year, the Conservancy is holding a contest open to all 3rd through 12th graders in Indiana to design the logo that will appear on the Hustle's race brochures and t-shirts.
The Conservancy's Hellbender Hustle 5k Logo Design Contest is the first of its kind. Participants are limited to those who are currently enrolled in 3rd through 12th grades in Indiana schools. The entries will be divided into three sections - from those in 3rd through 5th, 6th through 8th and 9th through 12th - with one 1st place winner in each division winning a $75 Harrison County Certificheck. The overall grand-prize winner will receive a $150 Harrison County Certificheck as well as the honor of having their logo appear on promotional items for the race.
Artwork must be submitted on a 8.5 x 11 piece of white paper. Any media can be used: pencil, crayon, markers, chalk, paint, etc. Graphic design is also welcomed. One entry per person; only artwork accompanying a complete entry form will be considered.
DEADLINE: All entries must be mailed or submitted in person by December 15, 2008 to Cassie Hauswald at 5885 Wulfman Road SE, Laconia, IN 47135. Please contact Cassie at chauswald@tnc.org or at (812) 737-2087 for more information.
