Prescribed burn in the Sandhills

Work Description: The North Carolina Fire Program is recruiting volunteers to assist with prescribed burns. Volunteers must be able to travel on short notice for at least one entire day to preserve locations in the piedmont, sandhills, and southeast coastal plain. Burns will primarily occur on weekdays, with occassional weekend burns. Volunteers must be able to pass a physical fitness test (hiking 3 miles in 45 minutes while carrying 45 lbs.) and have fire fighter training ('Red Card' - basic fire behavior, safety) and basic prescribed burn training.

Training will be provided in late November/early December. An annual refresher course will be scheduled in early December.
