Narrative - including:

  • Background/Problem Statement
  • Project Hypothesis(es)/Objectives
  • Value/Benefits
  • Methods
  • Stewardship and/or Conservation Implications
  • Products and Reports
  • Literature Cited
  • : Provide the ecological context for the project. What is (are) the challenge(s), presently not being adequately addressed by the Conservancy or any other conservation entity? How will this project add to reliable knowledge regarding the problem?
: What is (are) the specific question (questions) being asked by the investigator(s)? If appropriate, please explicitly state in the form of a testable hypothesis. If the project is not conducive to hypothesis testing, please be very specific as to what objectives will be met.
: How will the project support the Conservancy’s implementation of Conservation By Design? How will this research aid in the stewardship, restoration, and conservation of biodiversity in Texas, Mexico, and states with which we share ecoregions? What potential innovative conservation strategy will be derived from the research?
: 1) Study area description, 2) field techniques description, 3) experimental design including sampling methods and variable to be measured, 4) statistical analyses to be used and 5) specific time table for fieldwork, report submission, project completion. If collecting is proposed, what number of specimens will be collected and why is it necessary. Provide specifics as to where collected specimens will be deposited. If applicable, investigators will be expected to provide copies of appropriate scientific collection or banding permits.
: Discuss anticipated implications of the project on the species, community type, or other specific subject to be under study. For example, if a certain number of plant specimens are proposed to be collected, how would that impact the overall population?
: What products will be derived from the study? For example, is this a graduate student project which will ultimately produce a thesis or dissertation? What specific manuscripts are anticipated and where will they be submitted for publication?
: Please use the style found in the Journal of Conservation Biology for the literature cited section as well as the balance of the proposal.

Include those for the principal investigator and other co-investigators. Please, no more than two pages.
