Biography
Monica Anzaldi joined The Nature Conservancy in 2022 as the New York Chief of Staff. In that role, she leads a variety of initiatives and projects and provides strategic, substantive and operational support to the Executive Director, the New York Division and the broader organization. She is also currently (October 2024 - present) serving as the Interim State Director for TNC in Massachusetts, providing overall leadership continuity and ensuring integrated, strategic outcomes and operations.
She brings over 25 years of experience supporting organizations in developing their vision, building relationships with critical stakeholders, and executing sustainable, long-term, programmatic and operational strategies.
Prior to joining TNC, Monica served as the Executive Director of America Needs You – New Jersey. She laid the foundation for her career at academic, government, and nonprofit agencies, addressing a variety of social policy issues including behavioral health, criminal justice, housing and youth development. As a Policy Analyst with the Council of State Governments, she provided project management support to criminal justice and mental health initiatives across the country. This led to several publications including Building Collaboration between Criminal Justice and Mental Health.
Prior to that, she spent two years each with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and with the National Center on Substance Abuse and Addiction at Columbia University (now called Partnership to End Addiction). In both roles, she advocated for public health programs through program management, quality improvement, planning, and evaluation.
Monica holds a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from Johns Hopkins University as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Studies from Duke University. In 2018, she earned a certification from Columbia Business School’s Senior Leaders Program for nonprofit executives, in which she studied leadership credos, network building, DEI, and more with other top organizational leaders.
Monica resides with her family in the greater New York City area.
