Overview
General Info:
The Nature Conservancy's (TNC) Davis Mountains Preserve is closed to the public, serving primarily as a center for research and conservation, most of the year. However, it opens to the public for various outdoor activities—including camping, hiking, biking, birding and more—on select weekends throughout the year.
Due to the increased popularity of our Davis Mountains Preserve Open Weekends, reservations are now required to attend. The link for reservations will be posted at the top of this page three months in advance. For example, reservations for the July 11 - 13, 2025 Open Weekend event will be available by April 11, 2025.
Please note: The Madera Canyon Trail is open year-round from sunrise to sunset, regardless of the preserve's closure.
