In a large-scale “living laboratory,” TNC and partners are combining forest restoration, ecological fire and applied science across 10,000 acres on the Cle Elum Ridge in the Central Cascades area of Washington state.

These efforts and this landscape are helping us better understand how research combined with restoration can improve forest health, boost community wildfire resilience, support water security in the most climate-vulnerable basin in our state and help increase community access to nature. Most importantly, much of what we’re learning can be applied at scale to address the wildfire crisis across the western U.S.
