After kicking off in early September, we are now in the final few weeks of the three-month Techstars Sustainability Accelerator based in Boulder, Colorado and virtually. The ten startups will cap off the program by showcasing their innovative solutions at Demo Day on December 9th, 2021, at 12pm ET.

The first month of the program was in-person with companies attending expert-led workshops, joining collaborative learning, working on customer discovery, meeting with over 90 subject matter experts from TNC and the Techstars network, and identifying their next pilot projects.

Interactions and engagements with TNC Subject Matter Experts (and the greater partner network) helped product-centric companies dive deeper into their data and impact stories – opening up new avenues of bringing their products to market. Other teams were able to etch out nuances in crosswalks of nature and technology, nature and finance & nature and investing. It is incredibly inspiring to see the spirit of innovation in action and always impressive to see the rate at which these companies are learning and incorporating those lessons into their roadmaps.

Some of the companies have been launching their products, some using this opportunity to test out other market opportunities, while others have been focused on closing as many deals as possible before Demo Day.

At the beginning of this final month, the companies dove into pitch practice—an intense process where the ten CEOs practice different iterations of their pitches over 200 times to craft the best articulation of their businesses, their visions, future opportunities, and the most compelling version of their stories. So much of building a product or a service is about telling the right story, especially when you need to marry bottom-line impact with sustainability goals. So, the companies will continue practicing and refining right up until Demo Day.

Month one in-person sessions included many collaborative workshops.
