Biography
Andras leads the Biodiversity Policy work in Europe, majorly focusing on the policy processes of the European Union and Member States, but also follows the global Biodiversity policy agenda. His focus is Freshwater in support of TNC Europe 2030 objectives, however, he is also deeply involved in the global and regional aspect of biodiversity policy aspects, like protected areas, biodiversity finance, and emerging new initiatives.
Andras is a member of various European platforms and initiatives, like the EU Commission's Biodiversity Platform, European Habitats Forum, Living Rivers Europe coalition and brings over thirty years of policy and government engagement experience, at European and international levels.
He has also years of experience in working with the GEF Council as well as he has work with both the Belgian and Hungarian Governments during their EU Presidencies.
Prior joining TNC, Andras has worked for IUCN, and for some other, non-governmental organisations.
Andras has graduated in Biology and Geography in Hungary, and earned the Master’s title in the Netherlands in Environmental Management, where he also has started his PhD studies. 174 %
