Biography

Denise Bussio is the director of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) Argentina. She joined the organization in January 2019. Her vast experience in Argentina and the United Kingdom, in leadership, organizational development, project management and the management of complex projects, spans nearly 20 years in different sectors, such as the upstream oil and gas business and corporate social responsibility programs.

She worked for almost two decades for the Shell Group in progressive roles, from technical to commercial and managerial positions. She successfully developed relationships with corporate partners, local government authorities, contractors and civil society organizations.

Denise’s knowledge of civil society issues dates back to 2004 when she developed social performance plans for two Shell refineries in Latin America, positively influencing affiliated companies and ensuring a change in the approach toward social issues. Drawing on her experience in gender mainstreaming and her commitment to equity and diversity, Denise wrote the business study for Shell UK Gas Management and helped implement it throughout the organization.

Her education includes a bachelor’s degree in geological sciences from the University of Buenos Aires, an MBA from Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh, Scotland) and a non-profit degree from San Andres University.
