Biography
Hannah St. Luce-Martinez is the Belize Country Program Director of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) as of 2025. With over 20 years of experience in the field, Hannah has significantly contributed to conservation efforts at national, regional, and global levels. She joined The Nature Conservancy as Belize Conservation Director in February 2023 and served in that role for two years. She served as the national focal point for the development of a Tri-national Conservation Plan and a National Conservation Plan and supports the advancement of all conservation portfolios of the Belize Business Unit.
Prior to joining TNC, Hannah served as the Director of the National Biodiversity Office and as Belize’s National Focal Point to the Convention on Biological Diversity and the RAMSAR Convention. From 2016 to 2023, she coordinated the Biodiversity Finance Initiative in Belize, a program that transformed the outlook for biodiversity financing in the country.
To date, Hannah has supported the development and management of multiple medium and large-scale projects, producing critical policy, institutional, and financing frameworks to support the successful implementation of Belize’s biodiversity and socio-economic goals and targets.
She holds a master’s degree in Biodiversity and Tropical Forest Management and Conservation from the Tropical Agricultural Research and Education Centre (CATIE) in Costa Rica, and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Granma, Cuba.
