Biography

Marcio Sztutman has been the Executive Director of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) Brazil since January 2025. He holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a master’s degree in Forest Sciences, Forest Ecology, and Botany from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (Esalq). With over 25 years of experience driving positive change in the socio-environmental sector, his work focuses on transforming productive supply chains, engaging with traditional communities, and developing sustainable financial mechanisms. He has also led and promoted conservation initiatives linked to the socio-economic development of the Amazon, Cerrado, and Atlantic Forest.

Marcio has held various leadership positions. Since 2022, he has served as Director at Palladium Group, where he structured the company’s operations in Brazil, focusing on building a strong environmental and climate program in collaboration with businesses and governments. Previously, he was the Latin America Manager for Partnerships for Forests (P4F), a UK government program aimed at promoting forest conservation and sustainable business development in tropical ecosystems. Between 2003 and 2017, he worked at TNC Brazil as the Director of Conservation.

Now, as he returns to TNC Brasil, Marcio takes on leadership at a critical moment for advancing the organization’s 2030 goals. He is committed to fostering new partnerships and collaborative actions that integrate production and conservation. His approach prioritizes equity and inclusion, the role of science and public policy, and strengthening joint efforts with Indigenous Peoples & Local Communities.
