Biography

Rebecca Humphries is leading The Nature Conservancy’s climate policy work in Europe. She is responsible for TNC’s engagement with European policy-makers across climate and energy policies, with a focus on those contributing to the overall achievement of TNC’s 2030 goals on climate. Currently, TNC’s climate policy programme focuses on solutions to accelerate renewable energy deployment in harmony with nature and communities, increase resilience to climate impacts and ensure adequate financing for climate adaptation, and support natural climate solutions to combat climate change.

Previously, she worked for WWF’s European Policy Office in Brussels for more than eight years, specialising in environmental governance issues, driving forward WWF’s advocacy in areas such as environmental crime, the delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals, climate governance and the protection of Europe’s large carnivore species. She is a graduate of the University of Cambridge with a master in sustainability leadership from the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in law and political science from the University of Strasbourg in France. She has French and British citizenship and is fluent in both languages.
