Biography
Silvia has worked in conservation for over 25 years, specializing in watershed management, nature-based solutions, and inland water biodiversity conservation with a landscape approach. She promotes science-based, inclusive work that fosters collective action among diverse stakeholders. Her current work focuses on advancing The Nature Conservancy's water agenda in Latin America, with an emphasis on iconic landscapes such as the Amazon, the Mayan Rainforest, and the Gran Chaco, among others.
She has experience working in collaborative partnerships with a variety of stakeholders, including local communities, governments, national and international organizations, the private sector and academia.
Silvia holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, from Universidad San Francisco de Quito, and master’s degree in Environmental Management from Yale University. She participates in several groups that promote gender equity, diversity and inclusion.
