In partnership with TNC Latin America and TNC Mexico, TNC Global Science is pleased to announce the One Conservancy Science Gathering (formerly Global Science Gathering) in Mexico City on November 11-15, 2024!

Our flagship conference promises to be an outstanding experience. Immerse yourself in the world of One Conservancy Science as we bring together our TNC-wide science community and conservation practitioners for a week packed with cutting-edge science, networking, professional development and more!

As part of our sustainability efforts, we have selected a location to minimize carbon impact while drawing an estimated 500 in-person attendees. The conference will also be hybrid, featuring a blend of in-person and livestreamed sessions.

Xiye Bastida

Xiye Bastida is a 21-year-old Mexican climate justice activist, Indigenous rights advocate, and storyteller. Through her Otomi roots, she champions Indigenous worldviews as a solution for the climate crisis. She was an organizer with Fridays For Future and is the co-founder of Re-Earth Initiative, an international youth-led organization that supports frontline youth across 27 countries. Xiye was the recipient of the 2018 UN Spirit Award and was named TIME100 Next in 2023.

Ellen R. Stofan, PhD

Dr. Ellen Stofan is the Under Secretary for Science and Research at the Smithsonian Institution. She oversees the science museums and science research centers as well as the Smithsonian Libraries and Archives, Office of International Relations, Smithsonian Scholarly Press and Scientific Diving Program. Her focus is on the Smithsonian’s Our Shared Future: Life on a Sustainable Planet initiative and collective research, especially in areas of biodiversity, climate change, global heath, sustainable communities, and environmental justice.

Dr. Kyle Whyte

Kyle Whyte is a faculty member at the University of Michigan. His research addresses environmental justice, focusing on moral and political issues concerning climate policy and Indigenous peoples, the ethics of cooperative relationships between Indigenous peoples and science organizations, and problems of Indigenous justice in public and academic discussions of food sovereignty, environmental justice, and the anthropocene. He is an enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. 

  

Register for the One Conservancy Science Gathering!

There are different registration forms depending on if you are an internal TNC employee or a non-TNC employee. Please select the appropriate link to register!

Registration Details and Participants Responsibilities:
In-person registration includes access to all on-site events (plenaries, talks, poster sessions), as well as daily breakfast and lunch buffets, coffee breaks, the opening plenary dinner and a networking event. Participants must cover their travel expenses to Mexico City. In addition, participants are responsible for all costs outside of registration, including incidentals, dinners, transportation between the airport and hotel, and any extra travel-related expenses.

The Gathering and all associated activities will take place at the Hilton Mexico City Reforma. The Gathering team will make your accommodation reservation, which will be charged to the cost/activity code you provide on the registration form.

Virtual registration includes access to all livestreamed plenaries, talks and related events.

To encourage participation of TNC employees globally, we are offering reduced registration and hotel fees for participants from less-resourced BUs and low- and middle-income countries.
