Overview
Join our volunteer naturalists for a leisurely hike around a travertine waterfall nestled in rugged terrain that rises from the valley of the North Fork of the Roanoke River at Falls Ridge Nature Preserve. We will explore the history, geology, plants and animals of the area.
*Falls Ridge is closed to the public, but the gate will be unlocked when you arrive. It is important to arrive on time so we do not leave you behind.
- Trail Difficulty: Easy to moderate. The hike will take about 1-1.5 hours. If you like to use hiking poles or a walking stick, please be sure to bring them.
- Free and open to the public!
- No bathroom facilities. No pets.
- Bring: water, comfortable shoes, a hat, sunglasses, bug spray, and dress in layers.
