SUNSET TOURS

We will meet at our Derr House facility for a brief presentation before caravanning to the property in your own vehicle and hiking up to a half mile to the blinds together.* 

After dark, the staff guide will lead the group back to the parking area. Everyone must arrive and leave as a group (we are unable to accommodate early departures except in case of an emergency).

SAFETY INFORMATION

First aid and medical emergencies. Your staff guide will have one first aid kit with them at all times. The closest medical facility is Grand Island's CHI Health St. Francis, which is 21 miles away from the Derr House. In the event of a medical emergency during a tour, call 911.

Weather. TNC will use discretion in determining whether tours can be conducted safely and consistently with our conservation parameters. We will endeavor to cancel with at least eight hours of notice if inclement weather is forecasted. Tours may continue with light rain or snow. Please keep an eye on the forecast leading up to your tour to anticipate possible cancellation.

Packing list. We have compiled a suggested packing list to aid in adequate preparation for your tour.

  • Tissues
  • Binoculars
  • Water bottle
  • Warm clothing (dark colors or camouflage strongly encouraged)
  • Boots or walking shoes that can get muddy
  • Headlamp or flashlight (red light is preferred but not mandatory)
  • Camera (please note that flash photography is not allowed at any time)
  • Snacks and a thermos (please minimize loud food packaging like foil)
