Event Overview

Join the Volgenau Virginia Coast Reserve (VVCR)’s Migratory Bird Conservation staff for a guided walk celebrating World Sparrow Day at  Brownsville Preserve’s public birding and wildlife trail.

Sparrows are small, often brown and gray birds belonging to the Passeridae family. They are known for their adaptability to various environments, from urban areas to rural landscapes. Sparrows typically build their nests in sheltered locations, such as tree branches, shrubs, or man-made structures. They usually lay 3-5 eggs per clutch, which are incubated for about two weeks. The young sparrows leave the nest about two weeks after hatching.

This event is free and open to the public! Registration is required.
