The Nature Conservancy has worked for almost 60 years to protect land and water in the Texas Hill Country. One of the most pressing challenges we face is ensuring that the central Texas region continues to have clean, plentiful drinking water for our rising population while keeping our rivers, lakes and streams healthy.

Kendall County residents understand this challenge well. The County is one of the fastest growing in the United States, with 176% growth since 1990. This is why The Nature Conservancy in Texas strongly supports Proposition A, which would provide $20 million to conserve rural land and natural areas that protect valuable water sources like the Guadalupe River. For nearly 20 years, our partnership with landowners to conserve land over the Edwards Aquifer has demonstrated the benefit locally managed programs can have on protecting vital natural resources.

Land, water and open space are critical for our quality of life. They provide recreational opportunities, safeguard areas that naturally filter our drinking water, conserve habitat for wildlife, support productive working ranches and contribute to our state and local economies—in short, impacting virtually every aspect of our lives.

Proposition A will allow residents of Kendall County to protect its most valuable natural resources for future generations. The Nature Conservancy encourages voters to learn more about this measure’s benefits for aquifers, farm and ranch lands and much more, and vote in favor of Proposition A.
