The Nature Conservancy (TNC) announced the recent appointment of Stuart Brown as a member of its global Board of Directors.

“I am thrilled to welcome Stuart Brown to our Global Board of Directors,” said TNC CEO Jennifer Morris. “His extensive knowledge, engagement, and unwavering support of TNC at both the local and global levels are invaluable assets to our organization. As we strive toward achieving our 2030 Goals, Stuart’s expertise will be instrumental in guiding us to new heights and ensuring our continued success."

“Stuart’s long history of volunteer service to TNC has been instrumental in working across U.S., state, and country geographies to advance big conservation wins for people and nature,” said Board Chair Senator William Frist. “His deep understanding of TNC’s global conservation strategies will be a tremendous asset as we continue to advance our mission, and I am delighted to welcome him to our Global Board.”

Stuart currently serves as the Chair of The Nature Conservancy’s Trustee Council, which comprises leadership from each of TNC’s local Trustee boards and has been a longtime conservation partner with TNC. He was Chair of the Colorado Board of Trustees and has partnered with The Nature Conservancy in Kentucky, Alaska, Massachusetts, the Caribbean, and Africa. Stuart credits his grandmother, Sally Shallenberger Brown, who served on TNC’s Board of Directors in the 1970s and helped establish the TNC Kentucky chapter in 1975, for playing an instrumental role in his understanding of the importance of conservation. Stuart is a graduate of the University of Georgia and received his MBA from Vanderbilt University. He and his wife Joanna, who is a member of TNC’s Africa Council, live in Telluride, Colorado.
